Ya puedes pedir tus hotfixes online tu mismo!!!

Hace ya un tiempo que esta publicado, pero queria compartirlo con vosotros:

Rellenando el formulario del siguiente enlace, podeis pedir los hotfixes, os mandaran un correo con un enlace a un sitio web donde podreis descargar un zip.

el zip esta protegido con una contraseña que se os indicara en el correo.

Recuerda lo siguiente:

-Hacer copia antes de montar un hotfix

-No instalarlos si no encajan exactamente con tu problema.

-Los hotfix pueden arreglar una cosa y romper otra, hay que tener cuidado y solo aplicarlos si estas seguro de que son la solución a tu problema.

Si no es estrictamente necesario, espera a que un Service Pack contenga el hotfix.

IIS recorta su distancia con Apache

Como muchas veces a explicado mi amigo Chema Alonso (alias el Maligno) la estadísticas de NetCraft están sujetas a múltiples trucos y vericuetos de los interesados, pero un mes más la grafica nos deja ver como el IIS crece y crece mientras nuestro viejo amigo Apache cede territorio.

Como digo siempre cuando hablo de esta estadística, mi opinión es que las cifras serán mucho mejores con la salida del IIS 7 que sin duda es el mejor servidor Web del mercado.

Ya solo me queda una ilusión en este aspecto, que terminen de poner el framework para la instalación Core.

Windows home server, permite centralizar el ocio y la información domestica en un servidor que se encarga de realizar las copias, servir los shares, repartir las actualizaciones, exponer una extranet para nuestra familia y muchas mas funciones.Inicialmente solo se podra comprar a traves de OEM como el Media Center al principio ;-)

Today we are announcing that Windows Home Server has been released to manufacturing (RTM). We have finalized the software and now handing it off to our OEM partners. The evaluation version (with 120 day evaluation period) and the system builder version are also heading into the distribution channels and will be available in the next couple of months. French, German and Spanish versions will be finalized shortly, and OEM products will hit retail shelves this fall.

We're also excited to announce Iomega and Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC) as new OEMs planning to ship Windows Home Server products later this year.

Una noticia que me deja un tanto perplejo por lo alucinante que parece que se cometa un error de este tipo.

Una pagina web de un evento para partners situada dentro de la pagina de microsoft en Inglaterra ha sido hackeada usando el metodo del sql injection.

Ni siquiera ha sido un injection demasiado elaborado como se puede ver en los videos http://www.unbase.com/n/5725974396 (nota: parece que ya los han quitado)

Estoy seguro de que la pagina fue realizada por alguna subcontrata de alguna subcontrata pero sea como sea me sigue impactando que a estas alturas alguien tenga valor de poner una pagina web en un sitio tan atacado como MS sin analizar bien la seguridad de la solución que publica.

Un pequeño resumen:

•	Virtual Server host clustering. Support for host-to-host connectivity lets you cluster all virtual machines running on a host.
•	iSCSI support. iSCSI clustering enables guest-to-guest connectivity across physical machines.
•	x64 support. Virtual Server runs natively within a 64-bit Windows host operating system, providing increased performance and memory headroom.
•	Enhanced PXE booting. PXE boot support has been added to the virtual machine network adapter. This means that when the appropriate network infrastructure is in place, you can perform a network installation of a guest operating system in the same way as physical servers.
•	Other improvements. Virtual Server now includes improved hyperthreading, support for F6 Disk (SCSI driver), Active Directory integration using service connection points, and virtual disk pre-compactor functionality.
•	Performance improvements.

Añadiria tambien como novedad importante el soporte para copias por VSS.

Betas: DPM v2 Beta 2 (ahora de verdad), Softgrid 4.2, SCSM??

En connect.microsoft.com ya tenéis para descarga (de verdad) la beta 2 del DPM v2.

Aunque fue anunciada hace tiempo y en el propio sitio web del producto se podía ver dicho anuncio al tratar de descargar la beta, se accedía a la beta 1.

Esta beta 2 nos permite mejorar nuestras pruebas de este estupendo producto que revolucionara la forma en la que hacemos backup con tecnologías Microsoft.

En breve espero poner un post sobre la instalación y configuración de DPM.

Softgrid 4.2.

También en connect, podemos encontrar la beta de la versión 4.2, esta versión ya funciona en Vista con UAC activado.

SCSM

Se ha anunciado la beta 1 del SCSM (System Center Service Manager) sin embargo de momento sigue sin estar disponible, espero que en los próximos días podamos al fin ver algo "material" de este producto.

Me divido entre la emoción del nuevo producto, de poder por fin disfrutar de sus nuevas funcionalidades en entornos de producción y el agobio de tener que ejecutar ya el plan de actualización en algunas infraestructuras nada pequeñas.

Todo sea por mejorar e ir andando ese camino que nos lleve al nirvana del 100% actualizado.

Tengo ganas de probarlo también con SCE, y tendré que ver cómo funcionan todos mis informes personalizados y herramientas "propias".

Windows Server BLOG: As the person who oversees the development plans, teams and strategy for Microsoft’s virtualization software on desktops and servers, I want to update everyone on the timing of our server virtualization offerings. I know that many of our customers and partners will hear of these changes from their usual Microsoft contacts, but I wanted to personally explain some of the reasons behind the new schedule for Windows Server virtualization (codename Viridian) and Virtual Server 2005 R2 service pack 1. But first, here’s where we stand today:

The public beta of Windows Server virtualization will ship in the second half of 2007, not in the first half as previously disclosed.

The final version of Virtual Server 2005 R2 service pack 1 now will be available in Q2, not Q1 as previously stated. In the interim, customers and partners can download a Release Candidate (RC) version later this month - this is code complete and an update to the current beta 2.

Up front, it’s important to know that Windows Server “Longhorn” remains on schedule for beta 3 will be this half and RTM in the second half. Iain McDonald and team are doing a great job delivering the next-generation Windows Server OS, which includes in-demand features like TS Gateway, Server Core, Network Access Protection, IIS 7.0, new server manager and failover clustering improvements … to name a few. All the work being done here is designed to deliver a safer, more secure infrastructure and simplify admin tasks. This work will help make customers’ experiences with Windows Server virtualization even better.

So, you ask, why the schedule change to the beta of Windows Server virtualization? The primary drivers are around meeting our internal goals for performance and scalability. In an IT environment of ever-growing multi-core processor systems, Windows Server virtualization is being designed to scale across a much broader range of systems than the competition. We’re designing Windows Server virtualization to scale up to 64 processors, which I’m proud to say is something no other vendor’s product supports. We are also providing a much more dynamic VM environment with hot-add of processors, memory, disk and networking as well a greater scalability with more SMP support and memory. Check out Jeff’s demo of Windows Server virtualization running 64-bit Longhorn with an 8-core virtual machine. We still have some work to do to have the beta meet the “scale up” bar we have set. Also, we’re tuning Windows Server virtualization to run demanding enterprise IT workloads, even I/O intensive workloads, so performance is very important and we still have some work to do here.

As pointed out earlier, select partners have been testing a private beta version of Windows Server virtualization since December. We’ll continue to rely on partner input as we reach the beta milestone. And a s the public beta for Windows Server virtualization nears, we’ll provide guidance on how to add Windows Server virtualization to your systems running Windows Server “Longhorn.” Windows Server virtualization remains on schedule - to be released within 180 days of the release of “Longhorn.”

Today we’re also updating the delivery schedule for the service pack of Virtual Server 2005 R2. It’ll be available later this quarter. In this instance, we required some additional time to test the new operating systems that will be supported with the service pack of Virtual Server R2. We’ve added support for three additional operating systems – SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, Solaris 10 and the recent CTP build of Windows Server “Longhorn.” An interesting point here -- in less than one year we’ve seen more than 15,000 downloads of the Linux add-ins for Virtual Server 2005 R2 , which indicates strong interest to consolidate Linux workloads on Windows Server.

We’ve made numerous enhancements with Virtual Server R2 SP1 that allow it to scale (64 VMs on 32-bit Windows Server hosts; 512 VMs on x64 Windows Server hosts) on systems with more memory (up to 256 GB) and more cores. And we’ve added support for hardware assisted virtualization in the form of Intel VT and AMD-V. The team is also very proud of their delivery of Virtual PC 2007 and the tremendous interest in the product, with over one million downloads in the first 38 days.

I remain confident that Microsoft’s strategy and areas of investments will help customers’ IT systems become more dynamic and self-managing. I’ll talk more about these areas on May 2 during a keynote address at the Server Blades Summit 2007 in Anaheim. I hope to see you there.

Microsoft Response Point

Microsoft ha anunciado "Response Point" que es un producto OEM que vendera junto a varios fabricantes de hardware y que proporciona telefonia IP y funciones de PBX a pequeñas empresas.

El producto esta muy bien por lo que he podido ver en demos y videos, proporciona desde reconocimiento de voz, buzon de voz, importación de los contactos del outlook, te avisa en el escritorio de quien te llama, es muy facil crear nuevas extensiones y grupos de llamadas, soporta usar lineas normales de telefono o proveedores de voz IP para ahorrar en las llamadas internacionales, etc.

Puedes incluso indicar para que personas estas y para cuales no, realizar planes de desvio o usar el reconocimiento de voz para crear una recepcionista virtual.

Todo realmente sencillo.

Microsoft y los satelites.

Durante estos dos ultimos dias, en la blogosfera ha habido el rumor de que Microsoft anunciaria algo nuevo y espectacular, lo habia leido en blogs Rusos, Alemanes, Canadienses e Indios, pero hasta ayer por la noche no empece a ver por donde estarian los tiros.

El caso es que Bill Gates junto con otro empresario millonario, comprarón hace muchos muchos años una empresa de telefonia celular, el objetivo del proyecto era diseñar satelites de bajo coste para lanzar 840 al espacio y cubrir todo el planeta con una red de alta velocidad, de esta forma darian comunicaciones a paises en vias de desarrollo o poblaciones a las que no es economico llevar el cable y permitiran nuevas formas de comunicación.

Ahora ya tienen tambien una tecnologia denominada "Rally" http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/rally/default.mspx que permite conectar facilmente los distintos dispositivos, de forma que puedas conectar la camara de video al telefono movil de tu madre desde una punta del mundo a otra con facilidad.

Con estas dos tecnologia se cubre el proyecto completo, esto es un rumor de hace muchos años, pero parece que resurge y con el Ok de MS Corp para hacerlo publico.

¿revolucionara Bill Gates otra vez mas el mundo?
