Failed to Deactivate 0xC3EC782E

el dia de hoy me encontre que nuestro amigo, el KB974571 no permite la desactivacion de roles tampoco si esta presente en un servidor, por ejemplo de LCS 2005.

removi el KB mencionado y listo!

permitio la desactivacion. como dice Rui Silva en su blog …”Whether you’re superstitious, religious or a devoted fan of Murphy Laws, the naked truth is that sh*t happens!” :)

Licensing Requirement

…“public instant messaging connectivity (PIC) license requirements for Office Communications Server connectivity to the Windows Live and AOL public IM networks. Now, customers with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard CAL (or equivalent Software Assurance rights) will no longer require an additional license to connect with the millions of people who use Windows Live and AOL for instant messaging and presence. This change took place in July for Windows Live, and is scheduled for AOL in October 2009.”…

Licensing requirements for Public IM Connectivity depends on the service providers you want to connect with and your Communications Server client access licenses.

· Windows Live and AOL: Customers with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard Client Access License or Office Communications Server 2007/ Live Communications Server 2005 SP1 Standard CAL license with active Software Assurance (SA) qualify for federation with Windows Live Messenger and AOL without additional licensing requirements. Customers who do not meet the qualifying requirement should buy the Office Communications Server Public IM Connectivity license for federation with Windows Live Messenger and AOL.

· Yahoo!: Federation with Yahoo! requires the Office Communications Server Public IM Connectivity (PIC) per user subscription license.

The Office Communications Server PIC license is sold separately on a per-user, per-month basis as a Microsoft service. PIC service licenses are available for Microsoft Volume License customers only.

· Google Talk: Federation with Google Talk can be enabled through the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 XMPP Gateway, available at no additional licensing cost. This Gateway provides presence sharing and instant messaging (IM) with XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) networks like Google Talk.

Provisioning Requirements

To provision your Office Communications Server environment for federation with public IM service providers (Windows Live, AOL, Yahoo!), the following information is required:

· The fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of your Access Edge service

· The name of your SIP domain

If Public IM Connectivity licenses were purchased through Microsoft Volume Licensing, details on how to submit this information will be available through the Microsoft Volume Licensing website.

If you qualify for federation with Windows Live and AOL through Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Standard CAL, please contact your Account Manager for details on submitting information about provisioning your network.

se removieron los parches recien instalados y voila! subieron los servicios. en un cliente me mostro un problema de logon en el servicio al tratar de subirlo, asi que se digito nuevamente la contrasena y listo.

por favor tenganlo en cuenta en sus clientes. esta semana solo en Colombia he tenido tres de estos problemas.

Gracias a los ruegos de todos nosotros y nuestras innumerables veces que estabamos a la mitad del camino en una implementacion de OCS 2007 o de OCS 2007 R2 y a la hora de hacer los certificados surgia mas de una pregunta, Microsoft libero un documento publico que expone este tema con “foticos” y todo.

personalmente ya lo he probado y he realizado especial enfasis en el tema de Comunicaciones Unificadas integrandolo con Office Communications Server 2007 R2. ademas probando la funcionalidad del autoattendant en espanol, obteniendo muy buen resultado. El OWA es muy bueno tambien.

Windows 2008 R2 - “a brave virtualization world!!!”

he tenido la oporutnidad de probar Windows 2008 R2 y me he quedado sorprendido. en el mundo de la virtualizacion, ha ampliado muchas caracterisiticas por ejemplo, ahora puedo ver los procesadores logicos y asignarlos a las maquinas y que yo tenga el TCP offload (carga directa en la NIC de archivos para su procesamiento) para activar son grandes cosas para probar en grandes entornos. ademas que no hay problema para migrar entre tipos de procesadores de la misma familia (de un pentium 4 a un pentium II) tambien proporciona mas ventajas sin hablar de Live Migration.

el better together con Windows 7, el branchcache, el directaccess y ademas su interaccion con el MDT 2010 son caracteristicas que definitivamente debemos probar.

Realmente creo que es bueno y esencial probar este nuevo release de Windows 2008 con toda la confianza.

OCS R2 + Exchange 2010 – Improved UC

Hola a todos. se que he estado algo desconectado :) pero los ultimos tres mese han sido de “emocion pura”.

Entre otras porque ya no estoy con mi partner Desca. ingenieros de Desca me ensenaron infinidad de cosas nuevas y alos cuales estoy muy agradecido.

tuve la oportunidad de dictar en conjunto con Moises Mateos de Microsoft Mexico un voice Ignite aqui en Colombia con participacion de 25 personas de todo LATAM.

he estado en varios proyectos de OCS, asi como migraciones de LCS a OCS y de OCS a OCS a R2.

Windows 2008 Core, la "receta"! - how to build a Windows 2008 Core DC

Como construir un Controlador de Dominio (Domain Controller) sobre Windows 2008 Core.

Primero un pequeno resumen de Core:

No olvidemos que

Core esta disenado para proporcionar una base que necesita menos administracion. de igual manera, esta concebido para dar mayor respaldo a la oficinas sucrusales (Branch Offices). ademas, cada vez que me lo preguntan, cual es el mayor beneficio de Windows Core es, el ahorro en recursos en tareas que no se requieren. siempre hago dos preguntas a mi audiencia en cada evento: cuantos servidores tienen instalados en sus empresas? 1, 2 , 5, 10 , 100.... etc. y en cuantos de ellos abren una sesion de consola cada dia? creo que apenas en el 10 % de estos servidores, de resto, se administran en forma remota y con herramientas administrativas instaladas en las estaciones de los IT Leaders.

Por ejemplo, un controlador de dominio, se instala una vez y la mayoria de la veces tiene DNS, WINS y de pronto DHCP en el. si es de una sucursal muy probablemente es tambien Servidor de Impresion y de archivos, pero fianlmente, todo este servidor se instala una unica vez y se administra en forma remota a traves de snap ins.

Para mi, Core es respuesta a una necesidad de cada vez hacer mas robusta una solucion.

Una vez este instalado el sistema operativo se procede con asignar direccion Ip a la maquina:

Script para averiguar el serial de las maquinas en forma remota

dentro de todas las tareas de documentacion, esta muchas veces la de mostrar el serial de los servidores implementados en un proyecto. en mi caso cuando han sido muchisimos y en varios sitios geograficamente dispersos pues es algo que consume tiempo en una tarea muy facil de hacer a traves de scripting.

Buscandoo y buscando me encontre este scriptcito en la red (buscare a quien darle las gracias, por ahora no lo recuerdo y ya llevo con el algun tiempo) y aqui lo posteo para el deleite de los administradores.

me sirvio con maquinas HP y Dell. copie y pegue (sin asteriscos) y nombre la extension del archivo vbs.

Green IT: Data Centers y Ahorro de Energía

Hola a todos!!

en esta ocasion hare enfasis en un webcast que realizare el dia de hoy y que contempla todo el tema de Datacenter en su tema de ahorro de energia. lentamente las empresas buscan una eficiencia que se identifique no solo en su manera de hacer las cosas sino en su manera de ahorrar en todos sus procesos que apalancan el negocio asi como los que estamos "aside" al lado haciendo que se haga realidad el objetivo del negocio.

este tema es apasionante, vengo tomandolo desde hace un tiempo con todo el tema de consolidacion pero aqui abarco mucho mas que eso, mucho maaas. Clasificacion de Microsoft para los speakers en technet

Hola a todos,

hace unas semanas, el equipo de Microsoft en LATAM que produce los eventos en vivo y en demanda para TechNet y MSDN ha realizado un clasificacion de los speakers a nivel LATAM la cual publico aqui.

Antes de eso, he de decir que el equipo de Diego, Jorge y Natalia han dado un vuelco bastante positivo a esto, la produccion de contenido y que ellos son los responsables de todo lo que nosotros los speakers hacemos.
