Nueva versión 1.1 de Secure Socket Layer (SSL) troubleshooting tool for Internet Information Services (IIS).

common problem for administrators of IIS servers is configuring and troubleshooting SSL enabled websites. To assist in administrators efforts, Microsoft has designed a tool – SSL Diagnostics – to aid in quickly identifying configuration problems in the IIS metabase, certificates, or certificate stores.

This tool allows users to review configuration information in a easy to read view mode or to run the tool silently with only the creation of a log file. During use, administrators can simulate the SSL handshake to find errors. They can also quickly «hot swap» certificates for testing purposes.

These packages come in two forms: Express and Full. The express will only give the pertinent tools for administrators to use SSL Diagnostics while full install installs the same files with the appropriate documentation. Included in the full install is a SSL Frequently Asked Questions that can assist in the learning of SSL for administrators.

Sumandose a la moda de las vpn por ssl, Microsoft anuncia este nuevo producto llamado Microsoft Forefront Application Gateway 2007, producto de la compra de whale communications el pasado año, el sistema estara montado sobre un ISA 2006.

Hay muy poca información, no se saben fechas ni nada.

El caso es que no se si tienen una estrategia muy coordinada en este aspecto, sabemos ya de un ISA 2007 que incluye esta funcionalidad y ademas tambien que Longhorn Beta 3 tambien tendra vpn ssl sin coste añadido.

En fin, toca esperar.

Segun parece en la conferencia anual Lotusphere de IBM en una de las ultimas charlas sale Microsoft y anuncia las herramientas para migrar de notes/domino a exchange y sharepoint, imaginaros la cara que se les quedaria a muchos 😀

HP y Linux.

Segun parece uno de los ultimos modelos de escritorio de HP el DC7700 small factor que esta orientado al mercado empresarial de mediana y gran empresa, no tiene soporte de Linux por parte de HP que no sacara drivers, ¿sera que HP piensa que este tipo de clientes no montara linux en los escritorios?.

Restaura tus backups de XP y 2003 en Vista y Longhorn.

Utilidad de Microsoft que te permitira restaurar estos backups.

Powershell es apasionante, nos permite hacer verdaderas maravillas desde la línea de comando, pero además es muy extensible, disponemos de un SDK que nos permite crear nuestros propios comandos usando .Net.

Una empresa llamada nsoftware está desarrollando un conjunto de comandos o cmdlets que nos permiten realizar acciones relacionadas con las redes desde la línea de comandos, por ejemplo mandar un mail o un sms, ver un contador SNMP, ver información de un RSS y un sinfín de cosas más.

Como sabeis una vez instaladas las virtual machine additions si usais discos virtuales SCSI en vez de IDE podeis ganar un 20% de rendimiento.

Todos sabemos, que la realidad siempre depende del color del cristal con el que se mire, lo cual hace que todos los estudios de este tipo suelan ser algo parciales.

Siempre que alguien se aventura a sacar algo así, hay un montón de personas discutiendo la metodología del análisis las fuentes de los datos, etc., cosa que está bien, que algo este en un grafico de Excel no lo reviste de rigor técnico.

El amigo Jeff Jones se encarga de llevar su propia base de datos de vulnerabilidades y parches, y ha explicado bastante su metodología.

En base a toda la información que ha recopilado ha sacada tres informes, recientemente ha sacado el tercero.

Me parece muy curioso que despues de pagar la pasta de la licencia y la pasta del soporte de Red Hat te vengan a decir que las vulnerabilidades no son de software desarrollado por RH y que no podemos pedirle explicaciones.
